Hi readers,
As you may already of guessed, I am a massive book fan. I love everything about reading, from the characters to the actual books themselves. Leaving my beloved books behind is one of the hardest parts of traveling (sorry family, I miss you too). I have a Kindle for emergencies (plane journeys, being out at sea, stuck in an elevator etc.) but nothing beats the feel of a real book in your hands.

My Bookshelf
I am a huge fan of the Goodreads app, which helps me keep an up to date list of everything I want to read, and lets me keep track of what I have read. It also lets you create a reading challenge for the year, which I have set to 30 books (I figured that’s one every two weeks plus two thrown in for good measure.) If you haven’t already used this app I really recommend it, and you can add me as a ‘friend’ so you can keep track of what I am reading and have a leaf through my ‘to-read’ list for inspiration.
I read all sorts. I usually have a few books on the go; something relating to what I am writing about for research, and others just to explore a new author or something that has been recommended. I think it is good to read a good variety as a writer, and I often prefer to read books which are completely unrelated to what I am writing about, which keeps my writing fresh and original.
Anyway, I know so many of my friends and relatives love reading as much as me, and ask me for recommendations, so I thought it would be good to start a little book club. I am going to set a book for each month, and at the end of the following month give my review of the book and open a discussion. Along with this I will post some other recommendations and reviews in case you didn’t get chance to read the book of the month, or if you are, like me, a total bookworm who needs something more to get your teeth into.
The books will be mostly fiction, and it is totally for fun. Please feel free to recommend anything you think would be suitable! I will try and post the book of the month a few months in advance, rather than month by month, in order to give you time to get your hands on a copy. This will also give any slower readers/busy bees/people with more interesting social lives than me, time to read one and take part.
So hold the line, I will be revealing the book for February which we will be reviewing in March, soon.
In the meantime please let me know if you have any recommendations for the upcoming months.
Thanks for reading!
Emily

(By the way, all my books are in storage because I live abroad so the picture of your bookshelves is almost making me green with envy. They look so good!)

Sounds good, thanks for the recommendation. It’s definitely hard leaving books behind when travelling. Kindle is great for such times but just not the same so I know how you feel! Thanks again 🙂

Have you heard of the 40 Rules of Love? It’s fictional, but based on the life of Rumi. It’s absolutely incredible to say the least & my all time favourite.

I haven’t heard of that but it sounds great, thanks for the recommendation! I think this would be a great one to spark a good conversation … I will put it in for an upcoming read! Thanks! X
